Aeration & Diffusion

Many of today's waste and drinking water treatment applications demand an efficient and effective way of introducing gases into liquids. The gases can vary from air/oxygen for 'activated sludge' to ozone for drinking water purification.

Fine Bubble Diffusion

FFSL has a range of tube and disc fine bubble aerators/diffusers available in a variety of ceramic or EPDM membrane materials. FFSL strives to offer the customer the very best advice on the selection of materials and specifications to meet today's 'water treatment' applications.

Ceramic Diffusers
ceramic diffusers Porous ceramics have traditionally been used to disperse compressed air, in the form of fine bubbles, into sewage for 'activated sludge' biological purification processes, and ozone injection into drinking water. FFSL's range of alumina-based porous ceramics has been developed to both maximise the transfer efficiency and bring to the industry many unique features.

Membrane Diffusers

Membrane diffusers are characterised by perforations that open and close depending on air flow, whilst at the same time preventing the penetration of water into the distribution pipework; (ceramic diffusers incorporate non-return valves when water penetration is an issue). The high quality of the EPDM membrane material is created by using the latest in computer controlled manufacturing technology. The main functional difference is in the material of construction when compared to ceramic. Ceramic is a rigid structure whereas rubber is flexible. When air is introduced into the diffuser, the inflation action opens the fine pre-formed slots thus allowing the air to be dispersed as fine bubbles. When the system does not require an injection of air, the membrane unit enables the system to shut down.
